Can Headaches Be Caused by Training?

Everybody understands that exercising frequently is something you must do if you expect to lose weight. It does not matter what others might tell you; you can't lose weight just by sitting around. What most people don't realize however is that exercising really can be a pain. You are most likely already familiar with the fact that training might cause pain in your joints, your muscles and your back but did you know that it can also cause headaches? Sadly, most people endure exercise induced headaches these days but the good news is that you can treat them and prevent them. Here are some ways to accomplish that.

Drink a lot of water: this is necessary in regular life but it is extra important while you work out. Headaches are often due to dehydration and dehydration can happen after a workout that has been successful and sweaty (sweat drains the body of fluid). Drinking a good amount of water in advance of, during and after your exercise sessions can do quite a lot to help you prevent the onset of a headache after your workout. This might make it easier to stop the headaches that turn up after the workout has been finished for a while too.

Proper warm ups and cool downs are extremely necessary. Just beginning a workout can jolt your system-blood will start rushing to the places you are working which takes it away from your brain and that can lead to the onset of a headache. When you warm up completely your body has a chance to increase blood flow at a far better rate and then redistribute it during your cool down so that your system doesn't get such a jarring shock.

Breathe deeply for the duration of any weight lifting as well as serious exercise. Our brains need oxygen to survive and perform properly. People are prone to holding their breath whenever they do something that is hard or strenuous (like the hard parts of your workout) and that slows how much oxygen that gets to your brain. By practicing good breathing you keep the brain provided with ample oxygen and will ward off headaches.

If you see that you suffer from headaches regularly and your typical preventative measures aren't helping to get rid of them then you need to call your doctor. Your doctor will be able to help you figure out if your headaches are caused by something going wrong in the course of your workouts or if they could be caused by your diet. You may need to get relief medication to help keep the headaches under control. Your doctor should be able to help you find a way to continue working out and losing weight without having to deal with the headaches.
